A workshop by Manu Louis

Pick up a piece of garbage and join an orchestra!
No musical knowledge needed (but if any, welcomed too!)
6-40 people
Possible durations: 2h / 6h / 2 days
In French, English or Spanish
Material needed: A room large enough to accommodate all the participants

Using found objects, voices, and instruments, we'll create a temporary orchestra. In under an hour, participants will improvise, compose short individual pieces, and finish with a short performance or recording of their work.

The Garbage Orchestra workshop

Longer description

The Garbage Orchestra invites participants, whether complete beginners or experienced musicians, to explore their musical creativity. Using everyday objects, voices, and instruments brought by those who have them, we will build a temporary orchestra together.

Through improvisation techniques, each participant will learn to conduct the orchestra and contribute to a collective creation. In less than two hours, the orchestra will be formed, capable of improvising, conducting, and performing its own compositions. The workshop will conclude with a 20-minute performance.

The main goal of this workshop is to convey the idea that anyone can create music, without prior knowledge or specific tools, as long as they are open to listening to their own sound and to others. It aims to encourage participants to explore their creativity, express themselves freely, and collaborate with others.
